Baccarat pronounced ‘bacara’ is a card game found in casinos worldwide. There are two variations or table sizes. The larger ones found in bigger casinos with higher limits. Larger tables can seat 15 on smaller ones 9.
On the small tables you can find lower minimum bets such as $10.
How is it played?
It’s one of the simpler games you have just 3 ways to make a bet. You pick the BANKER PLAYER or TIE zone marked layout on the table in front of you. Put your chips on.
The object from being dealt 2 hands each of 2 cards one for the dealer and one for the player is for both to get as close to 9 as possible by adding the card values up.
Baccarat is a no skill game. You have no choices after placing your bet.
Counting rules
10’s and face cards are counted as zero!
Bizarre one this- if you go over 10 you remove the first digit. So a pair of 8’s totalling 16 becomes 6.
A third card may be drawn for one or both hands. However the table rules dictate this so learn which applies to your table.
If anyone gets a 9 straight off then this is called a natural and wins.
If both players make the same total the TIE is given.
Bets
The player winning pays even money. Bet 10 dollars and win 10 (plus stake of 10). This equates to a percentage against the player of 1.24%.
The banker winning also pays even money- however you must pay a commission of 5% on the winnings. The dealer will place an amount equivalent to the commission in a box with your seat number. This keeps track of what you owe when you leave.
After taking into account the commission the house advantage (against the player) is 1.06%.
Betting on a tie is a bad play as the casino has an advantage of 14.36%. It does payout much better though at 8 -1. A 10 dollar bet would give you 80.
