Teen Patti has its origins in ‘3 card brag’ but is from India. It may also be called flush or flash in some locations.It is played often socially on Indian holidays. It is best played by around 4-7 players but can be played with more or less.
An agreed minimum steak is needed to be made before play commences. This is what each player will throw into the middle or more commonly called ‘Pot’.
The dealer can switch around from player to player.
The dealer in any round will deal out one card face down per player until they all have three cards ending with the dealer’s own final card.
Ranking of hands
Trio or Trail- Aces are high so the best trio is 3 aces, lowest three 2’s
Straight run- cards following in number and same suit. E.g. 4hearts, 5hearts, 6hearts or Qclubs, Kclubs, Aclubs
Run- cards following in number of any suit e.g. 7hearts,8clubs,9diamonds
Colour- any 3 cards of the same suit. Highest colour is A, K, J and the lowest is 5, 3, 2 this is because in comparing to another colour hand for the winner you check the highest card and go down if needed.
Pair- Ace’s as usual are high A,A, K is the highest pair hand, as if someone has the other Ace pair then you compare the final card.
High card- Simply comparing the highest card you have when you have none of the above hands.

Betting and gameplay
The betting starts to the left of the dealer and moves round. You can start by deciding to view your cards or take a gamble and not view them. Why on earth would this work? Going ‘blind’ forces the steak to double (for ‘seen’ players) so people who can see their cards may fold immediately with any weak hands. You can raise the ‘ante’ within agreed limits (anyone) and when there are only 2 left in the hand it comes down to a show. You need to pay 4 times the current ‘ante’ to force a show of a blind hand. If both are ‘seen’ hands you need to pay double the current ‘ante’ to see who wins.
