Sic Bo is a game of Chinese origins played with 3 dice and a betting grid. You place bets accordingly in a timely manner before 3 die are rolled sometimes in a cage.
The result of the dice is compared to any bets placed on the grid and the winners if any are paid out.
This is a game of pure chance without strategy as there is no choice to be made by the player, unlike in the other dice game Craps. Of course you would make your bets strategically depending on the odds given and some bets would be better than others.
Sic Bo is found around the world in most casinos. ‘Sic Bo’ means precious dice. The game is the same as others known as Dai Siu, Hi Lo (Philippines) or Dai Sai. Sic Bo has been played in licensed UK casinos since 2002.
Sample bets
Small – The area on the betting board called small. This is a score from 4 to 10 inclusive. The smallest number 3 isn’t included as this would be a ‘triple’. There is no overlap in bets.
Pays even (1:1 a £10 bet wins £10). House advantage of 2.78%.
Big- Conversely from 11 to 17 inclusive same odds and payout as Small. This is where the game gets it’s alternative name from.
Even and Odd also share the same payouts odds and house edge as Small and Big. Odds for example is an odd number score AGAIN excluding a triple.
Specific Triple- a bet on a specific triple roll is paid out at 180 to 1 this has a house edge of 16.2%
Specific combinations of dice rolls can all be bet on and you must familiarise yourself with them. You could learn a few at a time and only bet on those. So this game could be for beginners in this way. The lack of strategy would be a concern for any professional gambler.
