3 Card Poker is a relatively new casino game where you play with a simple betting system against the dealer. You do not play against each other. In this way it is simpler than other Poker variants.
There is just 1 round, just one opportunity to see your cards and make a raised bet.
A ‘King High’ may be enough to call and the odds suggest betting on this and of course all better hands.
Ante Wager
This is considered the pay to play bet. You put in your ‘Ante’ chip and this gets you in the game and the dealer will begin dealing himself and all the players cards- usually from a shuffling machine. The house advantage on the ante is 3.37%
After the cards are dealt be very careful to check them, depending on your choice you fold or raise. There is a specific rectangle where you place your cards face down and then put your raise chips on top. This way the dealer knows you are ready.
If you fold you don’t reveal your hand but you push your cards to the dealer face down.
The dealer now reveals his cards and it is important to note that he needs a Queen or better to play. If he gets less than a ‘Queen High’ he effectively folds. The player is able only to win the ante wager only.
If the dealer has at least a Queen High then it will be a showdown. The higher hand wins. If the player wins he wins the ante and raise bet, at even-money.
The Pair Plus bet (the other option to win) you can think of as a side bet that is won based on the hand as a player you have not if the dealer beats you or not. For a Pair you might for example again get even money or for the best hand a straight flush 40 to 1. Check the pay table at the time of play.
There is also an optional ‘6 card bonus’ in three card poker which can occur where the player has also placed an ante wager prior to the initial deal. The bonus wager considers the players and dealers cards and they are used to make the best possible hand. For any winning hand the player collects, and any losing hand the dealer does.

This round takes place with just the 2 cards having been delt. No Board cards are yet out. The player after the big blind goes first here, big and small blind positions have played already. You call raise or fold. Calls stay in the hand betting the steak amount. You can raise the bet which forces the ante to increase for everyone then onwards.
One card from the top of the deck is ‘burned’ then the next 3 cards are placed into the board called the flop.

Checking is now an option for a player so long as a bet has not yet been placed. You stay in the hand and do not need to put down any money. The players decide what to do in turn to complete the 2nd betting round.

Third Round Betting happens as normal- now 4 cards are in ‘the board’.
The River card is then placed (after a burn) and a fourth final betting round ensues. Things are about to get very exciting as the showdown starts. The remaining players must show their cards (or fold) and the winner takes all.
Often players can win by other players folding out in early rounds. A game is never sure to go this far.
‘Roulette’ means small wheel in French where the game originated in the 17th century. It matured to its present format in 1790.
